My Story

DAN_3480.jpg

I’m Lauren Myors and along with my parents Brian & Janice we own and operate St Aubins Village here in Rockhampton Central Qld.

The story of How St Aubins come to life…
Acquiring in 2017 we have worked tirelessly on restoring the main establishments and gardens to its formal glory and we opened the gates to the public in June 2021 (Teahouse and Gift Shop) We have been holding weddings here since 2017.  I married my Husband (Charlie Myors) here at St Aubins Village in October 2016 after finding it very difficult to find a venue that we loved, my parents had a client (The Gillham Family) that they dealt with in their Livestock Agency business who were at the time the owners of St Aubins Village and asked if we could utilise the beautiful grounds for our wedding, at that time the grounds were very run down as Bill Gillham lived in Mackay and wasn’t living on-site, so our Family all banded together and got to work, leasing the grounds for the duration of this time we had 8 months to get the grounds, gardens and buildings up to scratch, after watering the grass every day we could see that the grass was dieing and realised the bore on site was ‘salty’ and we were actually killing it, so we made the decision only 2 weeks out from the wedding to returf the whole front lawn.  After 8 months of blood, sweat and tears, The wedding day arrived and it was the most magical day, the next day Mum (Janice) and I looked at each other (as we do) and talked about how we couldn’t let this beautiful hidden gem of Central Queensland just go back to being a run-down establishment, Mum got digging into the history of the place and made the decision to purchase it so we could bring it back to life.  6 years later and here we are, we are so proud of what we have created, we have so many ideas still floating around that we want to dig into more and get done

A bit about me:
Being solely run by our Family, I do all the marketing, FB, Instagram pages, Website, Emails, Phone Calls, Communications with couples & vendors, setting up on wedding days, help with the groundskeeper duties, I do a bit of everything, might even see me occasionally waitressing & washing up dishes during the week.  I have always wanted to be a wedding planner so when the opportunity arose for this beautiful place we couldn’t knock it back.  This couldn’t have been possible without my Parents Brian and Janice (who have also always wanted to own and operate a wedding venue when they went to their first wedding back in 1980 on the Sunshine Coast) I absolutely love weddings and love what we do out here, it’s so great seeing people visit from all over the world and hear the beautiful compliments daily, it makes all our hard work well worth it.
I'm married to Charlie who is a carpenter and has done a lot of the work around here at St Aubins including the Blacksmiths Barn and the recent renovations in Calico Cottage & Dads chook shed.  I am a Mum of 3 beautiful daughters (Imogen, Amelia & Phoebe) who also love St Aubins, Imogen works in the Teahouse on School holidays and Amelia sells her potted herbs in the Gift Shop, Phoebe at the moment just loves drinking chocolate milkshakes from the teahouse, checking on her Grandads (Brian) chooks and collecting their eggs.  We hope you love St Aubins Village as much as we all do. Xxxxx
